Abstract
The Solanaceae family of medicinal plants includes the genus Datura, which is thought to have both poisonous and therapeutic characteristics. Due to the abundance of bioactive components, the various plant parts of Datura spp., especially Datura stramonium L., often known as Datura or Jimson Weed, demonstrate strong analgesic, antiviral, anti-diarrheal, and anti-inflammatory properties. India is home to a wide variety of pharmacologically active plant substances that are naturally occurring. One of the well-known traditional medicinal herbs is Datura stramonium (D. stramonium). The troublesome weed D. stramonium is a plant with both poisonous and medicinal qualities, and it has been demonstrated to have tremendous pharmacological potential with a considerable utility and employment in folkloric medicine. An exclusive review of the ethnomedical, phytochemical, and pharmacological uses of this plant is presented in the current paper.
