Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia and associated complications affecting multiple organ systems. While conventional therapies remain the mainstay of treatment, poly-herbal formulations have gained attention for their multi-targeted therapeutic potential, improved safety profile, and complementary effects on glycemic control, lipid metabolism, and oxidative stress. This review comprehensively summarizes the composition, pharmacological rationale, and market availability of various poly-herbal anti-diabetic formulations. Commonly used herbs such as Gymnema sylvestre, Momordica charantia, Pterocarpus marsupium, Curcuma longa, and Azadirachta indica demonstrate synergistic effects in modulating insulin secretion, enhancing glucose uptake, and mitigating diabetic complications. Additionally, the review highlights clinical evidence, traditional usage, and potential mechanisms underlying the efficacy of these formulations. By consolidating knowledge on commercially available poly-herbal products, this review provides a scientific basis for their use and future research directions in the management of diabetes.
